The Republic of Korea have had a storied history, starting with their 1988 achievement as the first non-European team to reach the final at the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul, where they took silver.

Korea, whether in the red southern shirts or their 2019 united-with-their-northern-neighbours shirts, have appeared 11 times in the World Championship, with their best result in the 1997 edition in Japan, when the finished in eighth place.

They have won the Asian championship nine times, a record no other team has broken.

The Koreans booked their place in Egypt 2021 after they came second in the 2020 AHF Asian Championship.
